Manchester Jazz Festival Dates

August 02, 2015 by Victoria Freestone

Tori will be featured on a number of dates throughout the festival.  On the 2nd Aug at 8pm at the Festival Pavilion Tori will be playing violin in a reunion gig with the fantastic Cuban band 'Orquesta Timbala'. It's the first time they've all played together for many years and the great rumbero Santiago Garzón Rill, better known as Chaguito, has travelled over from Cuba for the occasion.   At 1pm on the 4th Aug she'll be playing at St Ann's Church in a new collaboration with pianist Alcyona Mick and then on the 8th Aug at the Central library with Neil Yates' 'Surroundings Revisited' project featuring Iain Ballamy.  The 'Surroundings' Project was the inspiration behind the 'In the Chop House' album.  With all these collaborations old and new the festival's going to be a particularly special occasion this year and it's their 20th birthday too!

You can listen to a track of Tori on violin featuring Chaguito and members of 'La Timbala' here:
